There is something about having Brunch on Sundays that is magical. I love making my friends and I wake up on Sunday after a big night on Saturday just to recap, regen and regroup. To me, it's a way to wind down after a big long week and just have a lazy brekkie, coffee and gossip.
We've tried to check out Freestyle Espresso twice previously. But the first time, we came with Foxee the dog and there was an unfortunate incident that involved me getting dog poo on my fingers and having to duck into the closest cafe to wash my hands. So instead of Freestyle Espresso, we went into Chez Dre.
The second time we tried was during my birthday. I happily strolled to Freestyle Espresso but it turned out to be their first birthday and it was the only Sunday they would be closed. T_T I did my best Y U NO expression outside the locked door that day.
So finally, we made it..! Freestyle Espresso is down Union St in South Melbourne and about 5 mins from South Melbourne Market. It's a little blink-and-you'll-miss-it but pretty much all Melbourne restaurants are like that.
Highlights:
- Defo the mushrooms. A little tad oily but I can gobble those things up in 1 min flat if they appeared right now.
- Big serving sizes make a happy brunch nommer
Mehs:
- Bacon was a little dry and too salty for me
- Scrambled eggs were average. Or I am just an #eggsnob. Keep in mind that I have high standards for scrambled eggs and have yet to find awesome scrambled eggs outside from the ones my chef friend makes. Meh.

The scrambled eggs on sourdough with bacon looks delicious! I think you are an #eggsnob and I'm sorry, but you're totally a #coffeesnob. This post has officially made me hungry. Thanks.
